We are a Fremont based company looking for a Professional Services and Technical Support Representative to handle on-site hardware support in the Manassas, Virginia area.
This is an opportunity to immerse yourself in Linux hardware and datacenter environments. You should have strong hardware, Linux and networking skills and be prepared to roll up your sleeves and tackle complex problems on a daily basis.
You will be responsible for on-site hardware maintenance, as well as managing projects and setting priorities for a small group of staff responsible for 24x7 maintenance / repair of Linux server hardware.
You may also be involved in delivering Linux / server solutions as a part of Penguin Computing professional services.
This is a “customer facing” position, working on-site with customer everyday. You will be required to work independently, set customer expectations appropriately, coordinate with other team members or departments in determining problem resolution, and remain highly organized.

|Duties:||Duties & Responsibilities:|
Linux (Red Hat, Suse) & Hardware Support
Approx 25% travel, primarily to East Coast locations
Linux System Administration
Delegate and manage server hardware repair staff / projects
Diagnose and repair Penguin hardware on-site
Position may include delivery of more advanced projects, requiring strong Linux system administration skills.
Handle incoming support requests quickly, patiently and accurately.
Opening, managing and documenting support cases.
Provide updates to problem request tracking system.
Rotation Duty as On-Call Support Engineer
Linux system administration experience
10 Years Linux / professional services / data center experience preferred
Strong PC hardware trouble-shooting and repair skills.
Experience managing technical staff / projects.
Working knowledge of computer hardware, including storage, memory and other non-Penguin peripherals.
Proven verbal and written communication skills with a track record of problem solving without escalations.
We are an upbeat team who value enthusiasm and a work ethic as much as your technical skills.
Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) a plus. If you do not have the certification, we will reimburse your tuition once you have successfully completed the course.
